Basic Bread and Pizza Dough

    Step1


    MAKING THE DOUGH
    Place all dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix well

    Step2

    Add olive oil and most of the warm water, and mix into a rough dough — depending on the day/flour, add remaining water, the dough will be a little sticky

    Step3

    Flour the work surface and knead until a nice smooth texture (5-10 minutes)

    Step4

    Cover the bowl with a tea towel and place it in a warm place to rise — once the dough is double size, light and fluffy, it is ready to knock back to its original size

    Dough can be shaped into one loaf, 3 pizza bases or small rolls.

    MAKING THE PIZZA BASE
    Roll on a semolina-dusted surface until an even flat base is achieved Semolina will create an added crusty texture to the pizza base

    Allow bases to sit whilst preparing toppings, about 1/2 an hour

    Step8

    Place in a hot oven 220 degrees C and cook until desired crispness — 15 - 20 minutes.
